Our Approach

Our Process | Residential Design

We’ve refined our collaborative process into ten clear steps, ensuring transparency, creativity, and precision from the first conversation to the final installation.

  1. Discover – Study what you own and understand your aesthetic preferences.
  2. Define – Develop a detailed wish list for each room and the overall home.
  3. Budget – Establish a realistic plan for furnishings and workmanship.
  4. Conceptualize – Present multiple layouts and design options at different price points.
  5. Engage the Senses – Encourage you to see, touch, and experience materials firsthand.
  6. Develop – Draft floor plans, elevations, and specifications as needed.
  7. Bid & Align – Gather quotes and refine choices to meet your goals and budget.
  8. Coordinate – Oversee deposits, schedules, and deliveries.
  9. Install – Supervise installation day and ensure everything is perfectly placed.
  10. Personalize – Complete the space with art, accessories, and meaningful details.

“A home is never done,” says Tom Segal. “Art and accessories should evolve as the people in it do.”

Our Process | Commercial Design

Our approach to commercial, corporate, and hospitality projects mirrors our residential philosophy—adapted to larger teams, technical requirements, and high-performance materials.

  1. Programming – Measure spaces, meet with stakeholders, and define project scope and goals.
  2. Concept Design – Present 1–3 design concepts with materials, drawings, and layout studies.
  3. Development – Refine approved concepts, finalize drawings, and review maintenance and budget needs.
  4. Implementation – Prepare construction documents and assist in contractor selection.
  5. Management – Oversee timelines, orders, and communications between teams.
  6. Punch List – Identify and resolve post-construction items.
  7. Follow-Up – Return to assess and ensure every detail meets our standards.

From offices and lobbies to restaurants and residential developments, our commercial work balances form and function with enduring appeal.

The Principals

David Kaufman, Tom Segal, and Lindsay Angyus bring decades of combined experience and complementary strengths to every project.

  • David Kaufman and Tom Segal co-founded the firm in 1996, establishing its reputation for timeless, thoughtful interiors that balance sophistication and comfort.
  • Lindsay Angyus, who joined the firm early in her career, became Principal and CEO in 2025, bringing fresh perspective and leadership while continuing the firm’s legacy of excellence.

Together, the three principals share a common goal: to design spaces that feel as natural as they look—refined, comfortable, and unmistakably personal.
